Managing change in China: a computer based simulation (in English)
Facilitator: David Trickey
Co-facilitator: Marianna Amy Crestani
This is a chance to explore some of the strategic, tactical and emotional factors in introducing a process change into a Chinese operating context. Working in Change Teams, participants will create a strategy and then implement it through taking a variety of change initiatives over a 22 week simulated timeframe. The computer simulation provides you with immediate feedback on the Chinese managers’ reactions to your actions, which respond according to Nanjing University’s research into what works (and what doesn’t work) when implementing change into Chinese corporations. Let’s be frank, most companies have a very poor record of successfully introducing change into their own organisational ‘back yard’ – what do you think the success rate is of western companies in China? Here’s your chance to get some insight into how to quickly and powerfully sensitise clients to the challenges and responses to cross-cultural change as well as building confidence in using the simulation yourself for your own practice or organisation.
The seminar will be a mix of ‘hands on’ learning together with a focus on research evidence on the organizational dynamics of change in China. It will also end with some scenes taken from a recent documentary on Italian entrepreneurs showing their approaches to implementing change in Shanghai
Please bring your laptop along to the session so that you can experiment with the simulation on the day and take away a copy to have a second chance to manage change in Chinese company after the workshop!
The workshop will be in English
Please book with our Secretary Marianna Crestani at firstname.lastname@example.org as places are limited
