Movies are often used during intercultural training sessions, especially when the trainer adopts an experiential learning methodology.
What kind of educational movies can intercultural trainers use during their training sessions? When can they be used? And in what way? When can trainers create their own didactic movies? And what are the critical elements they need to consider?
During this seminar Maura Di Mauro – thanks to her experience in the field of training and adult learning processes – will try to answer to the above questions. She will Skype-interview Steven Crawford and George Simons. Steven Crawford is senior professor of Cross Cultural Management, Intercultural Communication and Conflict Management at the JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland, who produced the intercultural didactic movie The New Math of Multicultural Workgroups in 2013. George Simon is an expert intercultural trainer and acted as consultant in the realization of the movie. After the interview, Maura Di Mauro will project The New Math of Multicultural Workgroups and will show how to use this film in high-level educational contexts. To round off the seminar, participants will be involved in an activity where they need to plan when and how to use movies as educational intercultural training tools.
