2010

2° Seminario 2010

A brainstorming session with breakout groups and an “open space technology” meeting set up. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Space_Technology).  The goal would be getting us ALL to be thinking forward, exchanging what’s on the horizon and new ideas. I would hope for an energizing, forward looking, vibrant excitement to come out of the workshop. SIETAR Italia members will have the opportunity to bring their experiences, perspectives, knowledge, values, beliefs, expectations and creative critical thinking to a workshop on the future of intercultural communications – as an academic field and as a profession. The afternoon will be set up using Open Space Technology — a simple meeting structure based on intentional self-organization in which participants create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme of strategic importance. Participants move freely among workstations using the Law of Two Feet:  “If you find yourself in a situation where you are not learning or contributing, go somewhere else.”   The basic principle is that everyone must be passionate about the topic and willing to take some responsibility for creating something out of that passion. Since Open Space works best when the work to be done is complex, the people and ideas involved are diverse, the passion for resolution (and potential for conflict) are high, and the time to get it done was yesterday, it is a perfect vehicle for moving forward this theme. I will set up and facilitate the workshop — the participants will do the work! Who knows what may happen. That is the beauty – we all bring a passionate dedication to the theme and then together we will create a successful workshop with surprising conclusions.
